Specials

Friday Evening: Othello Bowling party.

As it is almost tradition in the German Championships since 2006, we will meet with everyone interested to play Bowling, Chat and play Othello.

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. we will register some bowling lanes at the Bowlingcenter in the Spandau Arcaden. please register in advance so that we can register enough lanes.

The bowlingcenter also has some billiard tables, so maybe some players rather enjoy billiard instead.

Dinner on Friday

I booked some table for 6 p.m. in a good (cheap and tasty) restaurant near the Spandau Arcaden. Please let me know till Thursday if you will join us, so that i can book enough tables.

GoogleMaps As you can see on the map, it is somewhat north of Spandau Arcaden (Bowling). May be 5-10 Minutes walk. There should be more than enough parking possibilities especially on the Flankenschanze. If you arrive early, you might want to visit the Zitadelle (the "island" in the east) or the Altstadt (old town) of Spandau near the Arcaden (in the triangle of the Zitadelle, Arcaden and Restaurant).

Saturday evening: Poker - Texas Hold'em

Also almost tradition (on the last two german tournaments) we will play Poker in the evening. Experience showed it's not good to have more than 10 players per table, so this time we will try to have a few tables of 5-7 players. It's not planned to play for money, but maybe some experienced players will open a table with some entry fee to make it more challenging.

Public Transportation

Berlin's Public Transportation Company is on strike. S-Bahn transit is not effected. U-Bahn (Metro) and Busses are heavily effected. There are emergency schedules for those. Most busses go only twice per hour now. Several suburban trains (U-Bahn) do not go at all; those are mostly replaced by busses. Night schedule is very limited. Busses stop after 11pm. On Friday from Spandau to Rathaus Steglitz you can use S-Bahn which will go all night. But for those that will join us in Spandau on Sunday again... attention: You should either catch the one of the two last trains at 0:14 or 0:22 or be prepared to stay till 4am. Otherwise you can add about 3h to your 40-60 minute travel.

Lunch

There is a cantine down the hall of the tournament location. Do not bring your own food/drinks to the tournament location, but if you want to go find another restaurant you are free to go. some prices:
cup of coffee/tea 1 Eu
coke / fanta / sprite 0.3L 1.5 Eu
water / ice tea / vitamine drink 0.5L 1.5 Eu
beer 0.5L 2.5 Eu

They also got some snacks. e.g.:
wiener (sausage) with bread roll 1.5 Eu
rissole with bread roll 1.8 Eu

For Saturday's lunch we will get a buffet with soup, rissole, sausages, potatoes, vegetables etc. for 7 Euro. Even though this is not really obligation, but we hope to get everyone taking this offer, as it will allow us have a shorter lunch break.

Not sure yet where to eat dinner on Saturday/Sunday. Right now considering a nearby chinese restaurant for saturday and maybe a croatian for sunday.
